About Learning Wagon
Learning Wagon Preschool and Childcare opened in March 2022 to give children a safe, caring place to learn and grow. We believe childhood should be filled with hands-on experiences, imagination, and opportunities to try new things.
Children grow at their own pace here. Our teachers guide them through play, encourage independence, and work closely with families so each child feels supported.
Mission
Learning Wagon Preschool and Childcare provides an environment to our children and families to be involved in the community while providing a safe place for children to learn and grow.
Vision
We value our community’s need for high-quality childcare. With this in mind, we respect all the families who walk through our door and join our childcare family. We can’t stress enough how much we rely on respect and honesty when it comes to staff-family communication.
Philosophy
Learning Wagon uses play-based curriculum. Some may see a child playing, but they are learning their shapes, colors, sharing and teamwork by being architects, teachers, princesses, and artists. They are learning how to express themselves and be creative.
Meet Josie Wermager
Owner of Learning Wagon Preschool and Childcare
Josie opened Learning Wagon Adventures in September 2024. She first opened her licensed in home in March 2022 and juggled multiple kids before and after school until she was able to partner with Bangor to Lease the school to run her second licensed school program for ages 4 years old through 13 years old.
Josie has her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education to teach up to 3 grades. She has two daughters who enjoy Starbucks just as much as she does herself. Fun Fact about Josie is that she was a licensed Childcare Assistant Teacher at age 17 and has been in Childcare since 2013.

Preschool and Childcare
Thomas
Thomas helped build this program with his wife. He has gone through all the state training to run the program when he needs to step in for any staff member. He has his CPR/First AID, Mandated reporter and state training classes. He is someone who works on anything and everything as well as a kid at heart. Fun fact about Thomas can fix everything and can cook a good meal!
Christina
Christina has been with Learning Wagon Preschool and Childcare since March 2025. She has gone through all the state training to run the program; she also has her CPR/First AID, Mandated reporter, and state training classes. She is someone who is a kid herself and loves to be goofy with the kids. Fun fact about Christina is she’s been friends with Josie since they were in kindergarten (2001) together.
Learning Wagon Adventures
Kenady
Kenady has been with Learning Wagon Adventures since February 2025. Kenady has her CPR/First AID, Mandated reporter and is going to school for her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education. She loves herself a good Starbucks drink and her bunny. Fun fact about Kenady is that she is very flexible and can put her feet behind her head.
Brooklyn
Brooklyn has been with Learning Wagon Adventures since the program opened in 2024. Brookyln is a Junior this school year. She has been an amazing part of our program and work great with all the students. Brooklyn has taken state classes to be an Assistant Teacher in the program as well as CPR/First AID, and Mandated reporter. During her free time, she loves a good Lego set. Fun fact about Brooklyn is that she has dislocated her shoulder twice.
Heather
Heather has been with Learning Wagon Adventures since June 2025. She has worked in childcare for over 9 years and has her CPR/First AID, Mandated reporter and her associate degree in early childhood. Heather is a mother of 2 beautiful girls. Heather works the morning care program as well as help when needed in the afternoons. A fun fact about Heather is she has 3 dogs and was born in Florida.
